BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The North Penn Aquatic Club (Pa.) seeks a head and assistant water polo coaches.

The North Penn Aquatic Club is a non-profit, year-round, competitive swimming, water polo and diving team. Our team consists of approximately 200 swimming, water polo and diving athletes. The team participates in Suburban Aquatic League, Mid-Atlantic USA Swimming. The competitive program consists of developmental, intermediate, and advanced athletes.

  • Pay: Up to $30 an hour
  • Job Type: Part-time
  • Shift and Schedule: 8 hour shift/4 hour shift
  • Reports To: Executive Board of Directors

Job Description:  The Head Water Polo Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the water polo program. This includes designing and implementing effective training programs, developing athletes’ skills, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, and overseeing the overall administration of the team. This role is pivotal in introducing young players to the sport, nurturing their passion, and building a strong foundation for their future athletic pursuits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging and skill-building training plans suitable for the age group.
  • Teach fundamental water polo techniques, including swimming, passing, shooting, and teamwork.
  • Provide constructive feedback to players to enhance their abilities and confidence.
  • Plan and conduct regular practices that balance skill development, fitness, and enjoyment.
  • Implement drills and activities that promote learning and teamwork in a fun atmosphere.
  • Instill basic game strategies while emphasizing fair play and good sportsmanship.
  • Serve as a positive role model for young athletes, promoting dedication, discipline, and respect.
  • Provide guidance and support to players in their personal and athletic growth.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding practice schedules, events, and player progress.
  • Address any concerns or questions parents may have in a professional manner.
  • Ensure a safe training environment by implementing proper safety measures and supervision.
  • Be prepared to administer basic first aid if needed and follow all safety protocols.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among team members.
  • Organize team-building activities that promote teamwork and positive relationships.
  • Keep records of player attendance, performance, and progress.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, such as scheduling and equipment management.
  • Other associated duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum (3) three years of experience coaching water polo at a competitive level.
  • Must provide documentation of current American Water Polo Coaches membership including Concussion Course, NCSI background clearance and protecting children from abuse video course completion.
  • Must provide PA Criminal background and Child Abuse Clearances.
  • Current certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: Lifeguard / First Aid / CPR and AED.
  • Strong understanding of foundational water polo skills and teaching methods suitable for young athletes.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in interacting with children, parents, and fellow coaches.
  • Passion for working with youth and inspiring them to achieve their best performance.
  • Basic knowledge of injury prevention and first aid procedures.
  • Organizational and time management skills for managing practices, games, and administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention, player safety, and first aid procedures.
  • Must adhere to policies established in the NPAC “Coaches Code of Conduct.”

  • Pay: $17.55 – $21.14 an hour

  • Shift and Schedule: 4 hour shift
  • Reports To: Water Polo Head Coach

Job Description:  The Assistant Water Polo Coach plays a vital role in supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the water polo program. This includes assisting in training sessions, providing valuable insights during games, and helping to create a positive and cohesive team environment. This role is pivotal in introducing young players to the sport, nurturing their passion, and building a strong foundation for their future athletic pursuits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and conducting training sessions that align with the team’s goals and the head coach’s vision.
  • Work with individual players to enhance their skills, focusing on areas identified by the head coach.
  • Collaborate with the head coach to analyze opponents and develop game strategies.
  • Provide input during games to make real-time adjustments and improvements based on team performance.
  • Build positive relationships with athletes, offering guidance and support on and off the field.
  • Assist players in understanding and executing the head coach’s instructions and strategies.
  • Assist in coordinating team logistics, such as scheduling, travel arrangements, and equipment management.
  • Maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and other relevant data.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during practices, games, and team activities.
  • Foster a positive team culture emphasizing teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
  • Help organize team-building activities to enhance group cohesion.
  • Other associated duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in water polo coaching or playing at a competitive level.
