Greater Philadelphia Water Polo Club
About Greater Philadelphia Water Polo

We offer water polo for individuals 18 years of age and older, with practices and games at the Villanova University Pool in Villanova, PA.

New to Water Polo?
Water Polo is an Olympic Sport. Two teams try to score goals in a net 1 meter by 3 meters. Games last about an hour and they are full of swimming, throwing, wrestling, and scoring goals. Our game is a combination of basketball, swimming, and soccer.

Individuals new to the sport should not be intimidated. We encourage those just learning and scrimmage time for beginners is separate from the more experienced players. You only need to be a competent swimmer and able to tread water.

Weekly practices-What should I expect?
Thursdays is simply an open scrimmage night where players are divided into teams based on ability with novice and beginner players competing separately from the more experienced players to promote a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Competition
We have competitive levels for all abilities from beginner to highly experienced. Those just beginning will compete in games against athletes with a similar level of ability. More experienced players will compete against collegiate and Masters teams in the region.

Should I just come by?
Yes. There is no charge for your first practice. You’re invited to show up and see what we’re about.
