BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — For the second time in as many years, the American Water Polo (AWP) National State Challenge will be contested in the Chicago area as the 2018 edition of the tournament is set for Thursday-Sunday, July 12-15, at Fenwick High School and Lyons Township High School.

Hosted at Fenwick and Portage Park on July 13-16 last year following a three-year tenure in Upper Dublin, Pa., the tournament was established in 2008 as a venue for some of the nation’s best teams to meet.

“We are excited to return to Chicago for the 2018 National State Challenge,” stated AWP Director of Membership Damon Newman. “Last year’s tournament was a success with many competitive games played.  We are looking forward to the potential participation of teams from throughout the country.”

One of the premier events of the year for both men and women, the tournament is expected to be a recruiting stop for multiple college coaches.

This year’s 18U men’s and women’s teams in addition to competing for attention will also be vying for the $1,000 prize for the winners.

The schedule and hotel information for the tournament remain to be determined and should be announced shortly. Any additional information regarding the tournament is available by either calling 610-277-6787 or emailing office@americanwaterpolo.org.
