CINCINNATI, Ohio — The José Cerdá Aquatic Foundation (JCAF) will host a clinic/combine program with five-time Olympian and Silver medalist Tony Azevedo on Saturday-Sunday, July 28-29, at St. Xavier High School’s Keating Natatorium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • Saturday Program- July 28th, 2018- SOLD OUT
    8:00 a.m. — 3:15 p.m.: high school aged athletes (max 50)
  • Sunday Program- July 29th, 2018
    8:00 a.m. — 3:15 p.m.: 13U and high school aged athletes (max 50)

The cost is $180 per session with registration handled by contacting 2018AzevedoClinic@jcafoundation.org

Program Details:
Tony Azevedo and former US Men’s Senior National WP Team member Dan Matulis will introduce athletes to carefully chosen dryland exercises, in-the-water drills and water polo fundamentals. At the end of the day, the athletes will play games in a final four format, with coaching and feedback from Tony and his team.

In addition, Tony will introduce his new standardized athlete development system: a data-driven program that monitors an athlete’s progress over time. Allows for individual feedback and the necessary follow through to achieve real results.
• Athletes will complete the water polo Combine (8 drills). Data will be used to create profiles on Tony’s new Combine App
• Goal is for athletes to be re-evaluated every six months. They will follow a video-based tiered program on the App to improve specific skills and fundamentals
• System allows Tony and team to test athletes, engage with them directly, and provide individualized feedback

Schedule:
8:00—8:15 a.m. – Introduction by Tony Azevedo
8:15—8:30 a.m. – Carefully chosen dryland exercises
8:30—11:00 a.m. – In-the-water drills, exercises and fundamentals
11:00 a.m.—Noon – Complete the new Azevedo-Steffens Combine
Noon—1:00 pm – Lunch and Q&A
1:00—3:00 p.m. – Games in a final-four format (four teams)
3:15 p.m. – Autographs and remaining questions

About the José Cerdá Aquatic Foundation: José Cerdá Navarro was a Sycamore High School Senior who passed away suddenly from anarrhythmia while swimming on October 26, 2010; his 18th birthday. As a Senior at Sycamore High School, José played on the Varsity Water Polo Team as the 2-meter position wearing Cap # 3 and was awarded honorary 1st Team All Ohio at the end of the 2010 season. He also was the backstroker for the Sycamore Varsity Swim team.

The José Cerdá Aquatic Foundation (JCAF) was established to honor José’s memory, benefiting the sports he loved and promoting the character traits by which he lived. With the help of donors and supporters, this non-profit organization funds or sponsors clinics, tournaments, camps and local teams to promote excellence in swimming and water polo.
