BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2025 California State Challenge will be hosted on Friday-Sunday, July 11-13, by the Praetorian Water Polo Club.

Teams are invited to attend the tournament which awards cash prizes for winners in each age group. Due to the unique nature of the event, the more teams that enter, the more money awarded.

Prize amount per teams entered:

  • 4 teams – $500
  • 5 teams – $640
  • 6 teams – $750
  • 7 teams – $880
  • 8 teams or more – $1000

The event occurs one week before Junior Olympics session 1, providing a perfect time to have that last meaningful tournament and win medals and prizes prior to JOs..

The tournament entry fee is $650

The final day of the event – featuring the first place games – will occur at one location.  Last year, games were held at Fresno State University.

Each course during the event is 25 meters with an abundance of warm up space and no wall goals.

The tournament is hosted for the benefit of the water polo community. Due to this fact, officials are compensated significantly higher than USA Water Polo in order to encourage more officials to join the sport.  Game rates are $45 for regular games, and $55 for the championship games.

Another goal of the weekend is to bring the signature event to CenCal that would attract outside teams to join as well.

Accommodations will be made for NorCal or SoCal teams that wish to come over one day earlier and get in extra scrimmages or practice with the local teams.
